#Me Too: Navigating Donor-Fundraiser Power Dynamics Successfully
Facilitator: Jamie Newsom Eaton, CFRE
Using the AFP Women’s Impact Initiative, WII, as a lens, we’ll discuss the challenges of building and maintaining strategic relationships when unequal fundraising power dynamics exist. In this AFP-PM gathering, we’ll examine the first comprehensive study of sexual harassment in the fundraising profession and discuss how to address the critical issues:
- Prevalence of Harassment. 48% of respondents had either personally experience, witnessed, and/or heard second-hand about incidents of sexual harassment:
1 in 4 female fundraisers have experienced sexual harassment in their careers. 7 percent of men have experienced sexual harassment.
- Organizational Response. Donors account for nearly 2/3’s of harassers:
In 65% of the cases, the perpetrator was a donor. In 96% of the cases, the perpetrator was a male.
