How to Build Your Development Plan
Learn how to assess what your organization can do with available staff, volunteers, and resources. Focus your time on fundraising efforts your organization can implement successfully. Learn how to create a development plan that will prioritize your efforts and keep you on track. Leave this interactive course knowing how to start a development plan from scratch or how to refresh your current plan. Time will be allotted for starting work or updating your plan, so come with ideas to explore.

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Create a realistic development plan
  • Develop a fundraising budget
  • Evaluate a fundraising program’s effectiveness
  • Explain the importance of development planning to an organization’s fundraising success

About Stephanie Cory
Stephanie Cory has dedicated her career to the nonprofit sector since 2003. She has served as an executive director for a health advocacy organization as well as held development and program management roles for nonprofit organizations serving seniors and people with disabilities. She has also consulted for a variety of educational and arts organizations. Stephanie is an adjunct faculty member for Villanova University's College of Professional Studies where she teaches a variety of fundraising topics.

Stephanie has been a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) since 2008 and received her designation as a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) from the American College in 2007. A graduate of the Association of Fundraising Professional's (AFP) Faculty Training Academy, she has been an AFP Master Trainer since 2010. Stephanie is a Certified Governance Trainer through BoardSource and a licensed consultant through the Standards for Excellence® Institute. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Southern California.

Stephanie is a frequent speaker and author on a variety of fundraising and governance topics. She has been a featured author in Advancing Philanthropy and Fundraising Success magazines. Her writing covered succession planning and executive searches, development career planning, fundraising for membership organizations, strategic planning, and development planning for the small shop. Stephanie speaks regularly to local AFP chapters and has presented at AFP's International Fundraising Conference.
