Know Before You Go
To ensure a smooth day for you, here are a few housekeeping items to keep in mind. Please share this information with your registered guests.

Conference rooms tend to be chilly.  Please be sure to bring a light jacket or sweater.

Parking
Please use the main valet located at the front entrance of the JW Marriott. 

Parking is included with the price of your ticket until 5:00 p.m. only. Anyone who stays beyond 5:00 p.m. will be responsible to pay the $23.00 daily rate plus tax.

From the lobby, take the escalators to the second floor and follow signs for the Conference Center.

There will be AFP Volunteers guiding you to the event space located on the Diamond Level.

The address for the valet is 900 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90015.

When you are ready to pick-up your car, take the escalators near the lobby entrance down to the valet pick-up counter.


Conference Attendees:

We have a great line up of speakers, and you can see the day's schedule on the session page. If you are attending with other colleagues you may want to split up so that you can hear a myriad of topics and ideas that you can share with each other and take back to your organizations. All sessions are on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be many attendees, so be sure to arrive early for each session.

Registration will open at 7:45 a.m.

Breakfast burritos will be available starting at 8:00 a.m. in the Exhibitor area. You may also bring your breakfast to the general session. Please be sure to stop by and visit Exhibitor booths throughout the day!  Our opening keynote will begin promptly at 8:45 a.m.

Lunch
Your ticket also gives you access to the National Philanthropy Day Awards Luncheon, which begins at 12:25 p.m. Conference attendees are invited to sit at any non-reserved table.

You selected your meal choice when you signed up and paid for your ticket. The meal options are chicken, salmon, or a special meal (special meal satisfies vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, or gluten-free requests). Your meal selection ticket will be in the back of your badge.  Please place this on your plate when you sit down for lunch.


Lunch Only Guests:
Registration for honorees and sponsors will open at 11:30 a.m. All other lunch only guests are invited to arrive at 12 noon to check-in.  Visit our team at the registration desk for your table assignment.

Lunch and Awards Ceremony will be from 12:25 p.m. - 1:55 p.m. A special email will be sent to Honorees explaining the VIP Reception, Luncheon and Awards schedule.

When you check-in you will receive table assignments and your lunch selection ticket.  Please place this ticket on your plate for the server.

Women's Impact Summit -a celebration of the Women's Impact Initiative (WII)!

The AFP IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access) Women's Impact Initiative has made a deep impact on the fundraising community by spreading awareness about all-important issues affecting women in the nonprofit sector.

The Women's Impact Summit brought those issues to the forefront for two powerful days in Phoenix, Arizona, following AFP LEAD 2019.

AFP Lead provided two days of leadership and nonprofit management training with a fundraiser's focus. Terry and Barbara attended as members of the AFP Foundation and Mauria as president-elect of the GLAC chapter.

Recognizing our Board Members

Melanie Elliott has been appointed and approved by the AFP Board of Directors to serve on the AFP Global Ethics Committee for a one-year term filling a vacancy on the committee. Melanie’s work experience and AFP local chapter experience will provide AFP with expertise/background for the work of this committee. AFP holds the work of the Ethics Committee in the highest regard and considers the furthering of ethical practices in the fundraising profession to be one of our top priorities. The Ethics Committee looks forward to working with Melanie.

Yuri E. Casco, CFRE, has been accepted to the AHP Health System Philanthropy Residency Program for 2019-2020.  The Program is a 12-month, customized executive training and knowledge-sharing program specifically designed for health system executives who work in or aspire to senior leadership positions. Yuri is one of twelve individuals selected to participate in this year’s program; the team will be conducting a research project and present it at the 2020 AHP International Conference in Austin, Texas.

Fireside Conversation with Wayne Herron

Wayne believes strongly that the ultimate job of leaders is to work themselves out of their job by creating an environment that thrives after they leave.

Claudia Looney and Michele Bignardi to be honored at SCAHD

Each year during the Annual Meeting, the Southern California Association for Healthcare Development recognizes an Outstanding Leader in the organization.  This year, SCAHD is pleased to honor Michele Bignardi, CFRE, CSPG with this award. 

In addition, the SCAHD Board voted to create the Legacy Award to recognize lifetime career leaders in our field. Claudia Looney exemplifies the traits and accomplishments of the characteristics of SCAHD’s Inaugural Legacy Award. 

Please join us on Friday, December 6, 2019, at the San Antonio Winery in Los Angeles, CA as we honor Michele and Claudia.  Lunch is included in the price of the ticket.  Registration and Networking begin at 11:00 a.m. with the lunch program beginning at 11:30 a.m. The winery also has a great gift shop for any of your holiday gift-giving needs.  Parking is complimentary.
