Giving USA 2025 – What can we learn from what happened in 2024?

When:  Jul 17, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 01:00 PM (PT)

Giving USA 2025 – What can we learn from what happened in 2024?

In June, Giving USA will release the 2025 edition of its Annual Report on Philanthropy in America.  This invaluable resource examines the sources and uses of charitable giving in the U.S. for the year 2024 and provides key data to help nonprofit organizations formulate effective fundraising strategies, approaches and activities.

How do these trends impact what’s happening on the ground in Southern California? As the fifth largest economy in the world and a powerhouse of innovation, California affects the entire philanthropic market.

Drawing on national, state and local data, this session will explore insights drawn from this research to give us data-driven strategies that help us navigate challenges unique to our region’s philanthropy. Our speakers will explore sector-wide trends, discuss how these trends impact philanthropy, staffing and donor retention, and organizational planning. Attendees will leave the session armed with techniques to attract new donors, retain existing support, build stronger teams, and thrive in our uneven philanthropic landscape.

Join us for this virtual deep dive into the data and discussion about what it means with Cassie Carter, Vice President, Fundraising, and Adriana Lopez, Senior Consultant at Campbell & Company.

Key Objectives:

  • Participants will gain an understanding of the national philanthropic trends in 2022 and this compares to the past twenty years of giving.

  • Participants will gain an understanding of giving trends across the various nonprofit sectors and what this implies about donor priorities and perceptions of individual capacity.

  • Participants will gain a deeper understanding of trends in giving practices of individuals, foundations, corporations and how they compare to each other.

  • Participants will gain an understanding of how to interpret and leverage this data to inform donor strategy in 2023.

  • Participants will discuss the implications of changes in philanthropic trends with their organizational and fundraising planning.
