Shifting the Tide: A collaboration with AFP Orange County

IDEA Educational Event
12:00 p.m. -  1:30 p.m. (Pacific)

In the last two years, diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts have become front and center conversations about how organizations and companies can create more equitable spaces. How can we create safe spaces for colleagues of color? How do we dismantle systems that don’t support DEI in the workplace? What resources are there to learn and support one another?

Join us for a joint collaboration with our colleagues from AFP-Orange County. This peer-led workshop will be facilitated by IDEA Committee members from each chapter, and will include breakout sessions on these IDEA-related topics:

Session 1: My Experience as a Fundraiser of Color– led by Jennifer Maduko, Martha Sanchez, and Christina Lim-Garkovich

Speakers will provide fundraisers of color the opportunity to reflect on their experiences in the field and share tools that all fundraisers of color need as they lead with authenticity in the field of fundraising.

Session 2: Allyship in the Fundraising Space– led by Vanessa Benya, Arwen Duffy, and Danny Harper

Speakers will provide a space for white allies to share how they can support a more inclusive and equitable space for colleagues of color and their organizations.

We invite you to listen, learn and hold space for each other as we continue to heal and shift behaviors in this new era of philanthropy.
