Kim Ferreira is no stranger to the unique challenges of producing and planning events. For over 15 years, she has worked on diverse events around the world: from awards shows in the heart of Washington DC to product launches in Germany. Her work has allowed her to add stamps to her passport and has taught her that not everything will go as planned. Coming up with solutions to new logistical challenges is something that keeps the work exciting.
After running her own events and marketing company for almost a decade, Kim wanted to help her community, not just her clients. In January 2020, she joined Cancer Support Community Pasadena. After six weeks of planning for their signature 30th Anniversary Gala, California went into lockdown and Kim quickly pivoted to a virtual event. Kim led the redesign of the entire event from the ground up, addressing the unique challenges presented by a virtual event during a pandemic. The organization’s first-ever virtual gala was a huge success - raising record-breaking revenue for the organization – more than any gala in the event’s 30-year history – while drastically reducing event expenses.
