Your virtual event must be more than just another Zoom call! (A recipe for virtual gala success)

The world of fundraising events has been forever changed by this pandemic. What hasn't changed are donor expectations. As we pivot and plan, donors still expect an event that will that is full of meaning, an event that’s highly personalized. Nothing less will do for our donors.

Vaccination rates are increasing and herd immunity may be on the horizon, but virtual events aren’t fading away. This talk will help you adapt to this new world as we wait for our guests to feel comfortable heading to the hotel ballroom once again. We will discuss the tricks that can make a virtual event even more successful than the traditional in-person format. How we can tug at our donors’ heartstrings through the screen, so they will open their wallets and continue to fund your mission from the comfort of their living rooms.

Kimberly Ferreira
Director of Events and Marketing
Cancer Support Community Pasadena

Kim Ferreira is no stranger to the unique challenges of producing and planning events. For over 15 years, she has worked on diverse events around the world: from awards shows in the heart of Washington DC to product launches in Germany. Her work has allowed her to add stamps to her passport and has taught her that not everything will go as planned. Coming up with solutions to new logistical challenges is something that keeps the work exciting.

After running her own events and marketing company for almost a decade, Kim wanted to help her community, not just her clients. In January 2020, she joined Cancer Support Community Pasadena. After six weeks of planning for their signature 30th Anniversary Gala, California went into lockdown and Kim quickly pivoted to a virtual event. Kim led the redesign of the entire event from the ground up, addressing the unique challenges presented by a virtual event during a pandemic. The organization’s first-ever virtual gala was a huge success - raising record-breaking revenue for the organization – more than any gala in the event’s 30-year history – while drastically reducing event expenses.

This event is pending 1 CE approval from CFRE International.
