Lorie Abernethy, MA, CFRE was recognized as AFP Calgary’s Outstanding Fundraising Professional in 2019. A senior leadership professional with over 30 years comprehensive fundraising and management experience, with significant emphasis in major and planned gifts, strategic planning and implementation, capacity building, staff management, finance and risk management, infrastructure and relationship building. Focused on excellence in Donor Relations and best practices in stewardship. Lorie has extensive experience working with Boards. Lorie has worked with Janus Academy, Mount Royal University and the University of Alberta, along with a number of other charities, and is currently the Executive Director of MEOW Foundation. As well, Lorie has been an active member and volunteer with AFP Calgary throughout her career.
Bringing her unique experience and insight, Lorie will explore the importance of education and professional development opportunities for fundraisers at all levels of experience, including pursuing your CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) designation, and what that can mean for your personal and professional growth.
