Our October AFP gathering will have an engaging presentation and interactive discussion on: 1. The ethical requirements of the non-profit organization2. The responsibilities of the fundraising staff and leadership of the institution3. The charitable intentions of the donor’s themselves.We’ll take a philosophical dive into the foundations of ethics and then apply what we’ve learned to real-world scenarios that you might actually encounter through case studies and “what would you do” discussions.About the Speakers Zach Rentz has degrees in Philosophy and Law, and was a practicing attorney for four years in Philadelphia, PA before going back to school to pursue his Ph.D. in Philosophy at UCSB. At Cal Poly, Zach teaches the ethics of science and technology, the philosophy of law, and political philosophy, and he is also an active member of Cal Poly’s Ethics + Emerging Sciences Group.Allie Burnett has more than 17 years of professional fundraising experience working at university, hospital and local non-profit organizations. Allie has been with Cal Poly for 13 years and in her current role with gift planning for the last six.
