Regardless of what organization we work for as fundraising professionals or when, there are themes and principles that continue to reveal themselves over and over again throughout our careers. This interactive session will focus on some of these “lessons learned” that rise to the top, and how incorporating them can leverage better outcomes and mitigate disasters. These lessons were lived, gathered, vetted, and some even learned, by our presenter throughout her profession.
Monica Grant, CFRE, has been the CEO of the San Luis Obispo County YMCA since May, 2013. She has over thirty years of experience as a nonprofit and development professional, including work with UC Santa Cruz, The Nature Conservancy, United Way, and Sierra Club. Monica has over twenty years of management experience with the YMCA, including the YMCA of Honolulu, where she served as Vice President of Resource Development. She has also provided fundraising consulting, planning, organizational development, training and facilitation for nonprofits with a focus on capacity building and sustainability. She has a BS in Recreation Administration and MS in Organizational Leadership and is completing her Organizational Consulting Certificate from The Institute of Organization Development. Monica serves on the boards of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, SLO County Chapter (Past President), and serves on the Economic Development Committee for the SLO Chamber and Legislative Affairs Committee for the South County Chamber. She lives in Arroyo Grande with her wife, Colleen Murphy and son, Angelo.
