Attend AFP’s April program to learn some crowdfunding basics – what works, what doesn’t and how to tell if this fundraising platform is right for your organization.

Hear from our panel of experts representing three local nonprofits, each with a story to share…

  • Amanda Hall, Digital Fundraising Specialist for the Fresno State Alumni Association, will discuss how to get started with crowdfunding and how best to set your campaign up for success.
  • Rico Guerrero, Executive Director of the State Center Community College Foundation, will talk about software platform pros and cons and how to assess your organization’s needs.
  • Robert Schumann, Senior Philanthropy Officer for the American Red Cross, will discuss some of the lessons learned from his organization's first attempts at crowdfunding - what works and what doesn’t!

Amanda Hall began her career in philanthropy when she joined the Fresno State Annual Giving department in 2014. In 2017, she worked on the University’s first ever Day of Giving campaign and from there launched the campus’ crowdfunding efforts to support faculty, staff and student initiatives. Amanda now oversees all digital fundraising for the University.

Rico Guerrero is the Executive Director of the State Center Community College Foundation.  Rico is a graduate of Fresno State and earned his Master’s Degree in Leadership and Organizational Studies at Fresno Pacific University. Prior to coming to State Center, Rico was the donor relations coordinator with the Fresno Regional Foundation focusing on planned giving options, complex gifts and growing the Fund for the San Joaquin Valley.

Robert Schumann is the Senior Regional Philanthropy Officer at American Red Cross Central California Region. Based in Fresno, he manages a blended portfolio of individual, corporate and foundation donors across eight (8) counties that comprise the Red Cross of Central Valley and Red Cross of Kern County chapters. A passionate servant leader, Robert is a true believer in the American Red Cross mission: “to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.”
