What's Old is New Again - Successful Direct Mail Campaigns

When:  Apr 1, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 01:30 PM (PT)
Associated with  AFP CA, Yosemite Chapter

During these challenging times, a number of non-profits have turned back to a tried-and-true development tool – the direct mail campaign.  Our April program will include a panel discussion on the successful resurgence of direct mail campaigns and donor stewardship during the pandemic. Our panelists will share how they approach direct mail from start to finish, along with their lessons learned, effective strategies, and key take-aways.  Join us to hear about the different options that exist to successfully execute this development option.

Panelist:

Jessica Vaughan, Second Harvest of the Greater Valley

Jessica Vaughan has worked for Second Harvest of the Greater Valley over the last nine years. She has worked exclusively as the Director of Development, in charge of communications, fundraising, and marketing. She has extensive experience with relationship development, corporate and individual giving, event management, and social media marketing. Prior to her tenure at SHGV, Jessica worked in the banking industry, where she provided customer service, ensuring proper risk management and training and supervising staff. Jessica attended CSU Stanislaus, where she studied organizational communications. When she is not working with the food bank, she loves supporting local small businesses, photography, and being outdoors enjoying nature.

Panelist:
Jana Rhine, Sutter Health Memorial Medical Center

Jana Rhine
Jana Rhine is the Senior Development Officer with Sutter Health Memorial Medical Center. With over 28 years of experience in healthcare philanthropy and the non-profit sector, Jana specializes in building solid, results-driven fundraising programs. She is motivated by donor engagement and finding their “passion link” to the organizations she serves – ultimately helping to transform healthcare offerings. Jana has expertise in raising funds through a variety of programs including major gifts, grateful patients, annual community and employee donors and granting organizations.  For 11 years, she recruited and trained 300 volunteers annually to serve as fundraisers, where she managed the Legacy Circle campaign with Emanuel Medical Center that resulted in $10M raised. She also managed the annual Gala in the Napa Valley with Adventist Health St. Helena and raised $5M in a two-year period for the establishment of a healthcare innovation endowment and mobile health services. Jana has returned home after 6 years to be close to her family, grandson and life-long friends. In her free time she enjoys hiking, spontaneous road trips, reading and bonding with her new puppy Willow.
