Description

PROGRAM:

Is your development team stretched thin by “other duties as assigned”? Are you juggling fundraising alongside programming or marketing and wondering if that’s sustainable? Maybe you know more fundraising capacity is needed, but you’re unsure how to make the case for adding a position. Or perhaps you’re simply curious how other nonprofits structure their development teams.

June’s luncheon is designed for nonprofit professionals navigating staffing challenges, capacity questions, and tough internal conversations… especially when budget pressures put revenue-generating positions on the chopping block. Whether you lead a team or are an individual contributor, you will find value in this session.

Together, we’ll explore how organizational structure directly impacts fundraising success. You’ll examine real-world development team models, discuss what’s working (and what’s not), and learn practical strategies for advocating for the right roles at the right time. Through facilitated small-group conversation, you’ll connect with peers and leave with ideas you can apply to your own organization to support growth, not burnout.

If you’ve ever thought, “There has to be a better way to structure this,” this session is for you. And please, bring your organizational chart for discussion!

YOUR PRESENTER:

Jenna Ekstrom, EVP of Strategy
Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity

Join Jenna Ekstrom, EVP of Strategy at Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity, for a short presentation and facilitated small‑group discussion with peers. You’ll see how other local nonprofits structure their development teams and walk away with ideas you can apply. Jenna has almost two decades of nonprofit experience leading teams from development and marketing to human resources and programming.
