Blame the Message, not the messenger...

When:  Sep 13, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM (ET)
Associated with  AFP FL, Southwest Chapter
We are trying desperately to stand out in a noisy, easily distracted world. We have the best intentions when it comes to communications, but let’s be honest…we’re all trying to keep a dozen plates spinning at once, so most of us settle for doing the best we can. How can we be heard in today’s overcrowded nonprofit space? What can we do with small budgets, big goals, and little time?

Take it back to the message.

Effective communications can be summarized with all of the “c’s”: clear, consistent, cohesive across all campaigns, and ultimately, connectivity. Storytelling is such an over-used word, but it is the key to connecting us and our organizations to a community. Lisa Moody will share ideas about the value of our message and how it may be woven it into our story—whether talking to a donor, the media, the board, or the person behind you at Publix checkout.

The basic message and the story should be the same, regardless, and every person within an organization should be saying the same thing. Often, we believe they are but in reality, they are not. Lisa will also touch on the role of social media in communications – positively, proactively, and in a crisis.

Lisa Moody brings an impressive career and skill set in traditional and digital marketing and communications, working with clients on branding, communications and strategic plans, campaign development, content creation and distribution, and more.

In addition to her marketing background, Lisa is an award-winning executive producer and writer for television and digital. She has vast experience in developing immersive, interactive digital content that can engage and grow a vast range of audiences. Her experience includes working with ad agencies, nonprofit, network television and cable broadcast, government, education, and healthcare industries. For her clients, she brings a fresh, modern strategy to help surpass their goals and tell their stories. She has succeeded in building new brands, launching rebrands, and taking clients into a digital space they didn’t know existed.

In 2021 she rebranded her company of 20+ years to become Stream Digital. She served as Creative Director of Spectrum Productions and Director of Marketing and Digital Strategies for Ringling College of Art + Design.

Lisa is President/CEO of The Paper Airplanes Project, a non-profit corporation she founded to develop innovative tools and products to assist families of children with cancer in addressing the emotional aspects of their illness. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including Telly and ADDY Awards, as well as three EMMY Award nominations and an EMMY award for her role as executive producer/writer for Discovery’s “Saving a Species: The Great Penguin Rescue”.
