Diversifying Diversity: Including disability in our diversity conversations
Toya Williford
Executive Director
AC & JC Foundation
Too often our conversations about diversity, inclusion, and equity focus on race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation. But what about individuals with cognitive, physiological, and physical disabilities? We often neglect to include accessibility in our efforts to promote spaces that allow everyone to fully participate in philanthropy and in workspaces. According to the World Health Organization more than one billion people – 15% of the global population – have a disability.
Join us in a conversation with Toya Williford, Executive Director of the AC & JC Foundation, to discuss how we can create a culture that promotes diversity in philanthropy and build dynamic partnerships that foster equitable and accessible spaces for everyone. Ms. Williford’s experience at the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and the AC&JC Foundation has given her unique insight as a funder about the many ways to broaden the definition of equity and inclusion, build diverse teams, and fundraise across a variety of networks.
