Strategies & Techniques – A Conversation to Pass the CFRE

Event Re-Cap:

CFRE Certification: Key Takeaways from the Discussion

At our recent meeting, participants explored the value of the Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification as a mark of credibility, ethics, and career advancement in fundraising. Led by Jack Alotto, the group shared study strategies, including recommended books, study groups, and tips for overcoming test anxiety.  Jack stressed the three key components for passing the CFRE test: content knowledge, test-taking strategy, and personal determination. Several members highlighted how CFRE has boosted their confidence and opened new opportunities. The conversation also covered recertification requirements and the importance of documenting professional development activities.

To support members on their CFRE journey, the chapter will launch a peer-led study group starting next month. The group will meet regularly to review key content areas, share resources, and offer accountability and encouragement throughout the preparation process. All interested members are welcome to join, regardless of where they are in their CFRE timeline.  Contact: Tarry Kang, tarry.kang@csun.edu.
