Back by popular demand is our well received monthly Coffee Talk sessions! Each month, professionals in the field will be on call to lead the topic discussion and answer your questions. So, grab your morning coffee and join us virtually on the fourth Thursday of every month for these networking and topic discussions.

Our March Coffee Talk is, “The Hard Parts of Workplace Happiness”, presented by Anthony Poponi, CEO and Founder of Focus on the 40Anthony teaches people how to be in a good mood. In 2022, he gave over 50 keynote presentations on how to feel your best. Anthony’s research into neurobiology, neuroscience, performance science, positive psychology and leadership qualify him as a Grade-A Accredited Nerdist (self-certified, 2022). Anthony has distilled years of research to find empirically validated tools and evidenced-based techniques into practical tools. His programs, called Focus on the 40, refocus our energy towards what we know will provide lasting happiness, and in turn, sustained success.

In this session, Anthony shares that, “Change is the new normal, the old normal and the future normal. And change is hard, but it isn’t going away. Sorry, it’s true! What we know from the research into human happiness is that there are true “hard parts” to happiness like developing mastery, building resilience and overcoming obstacles and new challenges. Sometimes the “hard parts” you face are intentional choices inherent in growth. Sometimes the “hard parts” are induced by external forces you can’t control, and it can be stressful.

Fortunately, there is a good type of stress called “challenge stress” and  “strategic discomfort”, which are both part of expanding your expertise and your leadership. Change doesn’t always feel good in the moment, but we come out of those moments stronger and better equipped for the dynamic nature of everyday life. Modeling this mindset within your workplace is leadership in action.”

The session will also include time for any of your questions. Or if you would like to submit a question prior, please email it to admin@afphawaii.org.

Registration is required, so don't delay! There is no charge for this event but you must register in order to participate in-person and receive the Zoom meeting link.
