Cognitive Impairment in Donor Populations: An Overview

When:  Feb 16, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 01:00 PM (ET)
Associated with  AFP IN, Indiana Chapter

We are on the precipice of the largest transfer of wealth in human history, with the Baby Boomer generation accumulating more than $35,000,000,000,000 that will be dispersed to individuals and organizations over the coming years. As this population ages, the likelihood of dementia and other cognitive impairment increases, which can create ethical and legal issues for major gift fundraisers when they encounter this in their interactions with donors. Is your institution or organization prepared for this inevitable scenario?

Tara Adams, Ed.M., JD and Tony Pomonis, CFRE of the Cognitive Empowerment Consulting Group will provide an overview about the prevalence of cognitive impairment in major gift donor populations and suggest strategies on how best to manage cognitive impairment issues for your organization through the lens of an ethical and legal framework of best practices.
