Learning Objectives:

Fundraising 101, over the course of one day in-person and a half day virtual, will cover fundamental fundraising techniques, including:

  • Putting together a successful development plan;
  • Securing individuals as annual donors, as well as upgrading and securing major gifts;
  • Effective storytelling techniques and how to utilize them in raising more money;
  • Obtaining grant support from foundations, corporations and government sources;
  • Professional and ethical prospect research and data collection techniques;
  • Reporting back to donors with stewardship best practices;
  • The importance of inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA) in fundraising;
  • What it means to be a fundraising professional; and
  • Establishing a healthy network as a fundraising professional

Resource guides and tip sheets will be provided for topics not covered in-depth at Fundraising 101, such as planned giving, capital campaigns, and event planning. The Target Audience is nonprofits of all focus areas; the Shop Size is all sizes; and the Experience Level is Beginner (0-3 years of fundraising experience); or Intermediate (4-7 years); although fundraisers of all experience levels are invited and would benefit from the presented content.


This year's event will be split across 2 sessions.
