About the Moderator

Jess Hagen, Experience Events Group

Jess Hagen is the founder and owner of Experience Events Group based in Kansas City, Missouri. Experience Events Group is a result driven firm specializing in event production and fundraising management. Jess and her team are always looking for new and creative ways to engage event audiences and maximize revenue that will enhance overall attendee experience.

Before starting EEG in 2016, Jess was the Director of Events for Entercom Radio, creating new events and developing non-traditional revenue streams and sponsorship opportunities for several radio stations.

About the Panelists

Joan Cabell, CFRE, Alzheimer’s Association Heart of America Chapter

Joan Cabell has been involved with the nonprofit world for over 20 years. Currently she is the Development Director for the Alzheimer’s Association Heart of America Chapter where she is responsible for a staff of 4 and a dozen different events including 9 walks.

Her previous fundraising roles included being the Development Director for the U.S. Army’s Command and General Staff College Foundation in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  She focused on developing and implementing fundraising strategies including individual giving, corporate contributions, and foundation grants. And she spent 15 years with United Way. In her last role at United Way, she was Vice President of Workforce Giving providing leadership and direction for managing workplace campaigns which represented more than1600 contributing organizations.

Erica Kiehnhoff, American Heart Association

Erica Kiehnhoff is the Senior Director of Active Events at the American Heart Association. Erica is a passionate fundraiser who excels in building relationships with high level volunteers to participate her fundraising boards. In her 15 years of fundraising, Erica overseen the logistics of countless mass market fundraising events. Erica prides herself on cultivating great relationships and producing unforgettable event experiences. Erica holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Kansas State University.  

Polly Parsons Howard, The Children's Place

Polly Howard, Vice President of Development and Communications, has been with The Children's Place since October 2018. Prior to The Children's Place she was with KCPT, Kansas City Public Television where she was the Director of Major Giving since March 2015. She began her fundraising career as a Development Officer for Northwest Missouri State University in 2006. She has been in the field for more than 14 years following a career in television news. She has a M.S. in Higher Education Leadership and a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism from Northwest Missouri State University.
