Annual Association of Fundraising Professionals – Greater Kansas City Chapter and Grant Professionals Association FUNDERS FORUM. This year's program welcomes executives from the nonprofit sector as well as the government sector. Join us to meet our panelists and learn the focus of their organizations and the processes for applying for support.

This event is presented in partnership with Grant Professionals Association – Heart of America Chapter. 

Panelists:

Lindsey Patterson Smith - Patterson Family Foundation
Lindsey Patterson Smith is a philanthropist and investor who serves as director of the Patterson Family Foundation, a family-led foundation dedicated to extending the legacy of Neal and Jeanne Patterson through programs that help rural communities thrive. Lindsey attributes her passion for rural communities to her family’s roots and continued ties to generations of Kansas and Oklahoma farmers. Active in charitable work since high school, Lindsey draws on her personal professional experience as a
small business owner and corporate hospitality specialist to inform her day-to-day perspective on working with people and organizations. Lindsey is a graduate of Saint Louis University and serves on the board of the American Royal Association, Kemper Museum of Art and UMKC Foundation. A native of Kansas City, she lives in the community with her husband and two young children.

Jean -Paul Chaurand – Marion and Henry Bloch Family Foundation
Jean-Paul Chaurand is the Executive Vice President of the H&R Block Foundation and the Marion and Henry Bloch Family Foundation. Prior to his work with the foundations, Jean-Paul was the Chief Operating Officer at the Guadalupe Centers and the Senior Vice President for Community Investment at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation. Jean-Paul serves on the board of Children’s Mercy Hospital and is a graduate of the Bloch Executive MBA program.

Jim MacDonald - United Way of Greater Kansas City
In his role with United Way, Jim is responsible for managing a portfolio of $13 million worth of annual investments in health and human service programs throughout Greater Kansas City. Jim leads the Community Impact team at United Way, overseeing a range of projects and initiatives aimed at combatting poverty, promoting child well-being and supporting school success. Jim has worked for United Way in various roles for 33 years, having served with the United Ways in
Kansas City and Jacksonville, Florida. Jim is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame. He lives in midtown Kansas City with his husband Andy and their 10-year-old daughter, Grace. 

Richard Overcast – Health Resources and Services Administration, Office of Regional Operations, Kansas City Regional Division
Richard Overcast has served as the Deputy Regional Administrator in the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Office of Regional Operations (ORO), Kansas City Regional Division since September 2020. Richard joined HRSA in 2016 as a Public Health Analyst. 

Richard began his career at Health and Human Services (HHS) with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).  Prior to HHS, Richard served in the United States Army.

Richard earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Park University in Parkville, MO.  He is also a graduate of the Military Intelligence Officer Basic Course and Military Intelligence Officer Advanced Course in Fort Huachuca, AZ.  Richard currently resides in Parkville, MO with his wife Audrey and daughters Gillian, Brenna, Addison, and Everlee.
