About the Program

In this session we will explore easily implementable stewardship strategies for your organization’s planned gift donors. As difficult as it can be to secure planned gift commitments, the real work and artistry is in the stewardship and maintenance of relationships to see the commitments through to fruition. Exceptional stewardship is not only the right thing to do (after all, the donor has committed to you alongside his/her family and other top priorities), it is also the best opportunity to grow those commitments as well as increasing the annual support and ambassadorship of those donors. Of course, the reverse is also true, and we will reflect upon some cautionary tales of what happens when not properly handled. Excellent stewardship is your way to leave your own legacy on your organization and ensure that it continues to thrive long into the future.

Learning Objectives

  • Understanding the importance of stewarding planned givers (the perils of neglect)
  • Understanding why a different stewardship strategy may be called for
  • Presentation of strategies that work
