The Brain Family has been active in Kansas City philanthropy for 35 years. They have supported dozens of organizations, both through charitable gifts, serving on boards, chairing events, and direct volunteerism. Their focus has been in three areas: education, social services, and mentorship. Cathi and David’s four children, Andrew, Caroline, Charlie, and Phillip, have carried on the spirit of philanthropy in their own unique ways.
The Brain Family has directly benefited their nominator Midwest Innocence Project for over eight years. Through board service, gala chairing, community outreach, mentorship, and direct giving, the Brain Family have helped free and support 11 individuals from wrongful conviction.
