Member Spotlight: Teresa Underwood

Teresa Underwood’s colleagues are quick to give her praise. Resourceful. Boundless energy. Dedicated. Detail-oriented. Given how generous she is with her time, talent, and wisdom, it is no wonder that they shower praise on this Knoxville native.

“I have a lot I can share, and often still offer to help other nonprofits with a few tips, whether it's about sponsorships, events and even low hanging fruit secrets,” said Underwood.

The Monroe County Friends of Animals is the latest organization to benefit from Underwood’s deep well of experience. She has been a blessing to numerous East Tennessee nonprofits during her 22-year fundraising career.

I began my nonprofit journey in 2000 at the Girl Scouts of Tanasi Council office,” Underwood said. “Over the years I have worked for several major nonprofits, and continue to grow and learn about fundraising best practices.”

Other stops in Teresa’s career include the Humane Society of Tennessee Valley and the American Heart Association. Teresa is a relatively new member of the Great Smoky Mountain chapter but she has been participating in the numerous training opportunities for years and plans to continue her well-established track record of conscientious connection.

“I hope to grow my skills in development and to share tips with others my success stories to help them enhance their bottom line,” Underwood said.
