Description

This month's AFP workshop, Managing Risk in Nonprofit Organizations, focuses on insurance as a primary tool for mitigating the wide range of risks nonprofits face. Participants will learn about the essential types of insurance coverage—such as general liability, directors and officers (D&O), professional liability (E&O), property, cyber liability, and workers' compensation—and how each policy addresses specific operational, legal, financial, and reputational threats. The session also highlights the importance of insurance for freelance consultants, emphasizing how proper coverage protects both the nonprofit organization and the consultant. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how strategic insurance planning forms the backbone of a sound nonprofit risk management strategy.
