Foundations: What are they looking for anyway?

Statistics quoted in Giving USA 2020: The Annual Report on Philanthropy for the Year 2019 state that giving by Foundations increased by 2.5% to an estimated $75.69 billion.  That dollar amount is the highest-ever achieved in this giving category. Giving by foundations has increased in nine of the last 10 years and represented 17% of total giving in 2019, for the second year in a row.

With foundation giving on the rise, how can you make sure your organization stands out to receive some funding? Have foundations’ funding strategies changed this year as a result of the pandemic? Or have giving priorities shifted in response to social, racial, economic, and environmental injustices?

Panelists representing large corporate foundations, smaller private foundations and family foundations will help us understand their unique missions, how they prioritize giving, especially in 2021, and grant application components and deadlines. This session will help you gain a clearer understanding of how Foundation boards and leaders think, what you can do to make your grant application stand out, help to ensure you have the correct grant application timelines, and learn best practices they encourage to help gain a positive outcome. Bring your questions and get answers during this engaging program.
