Applying Lean Thinking to Accelerate Nonprofit Impact

In this session, core principles of Lean thinking are made relatable and usable within the nonprofit and social impact scope of work. Lean thinking has its origins in the manufacturing industry, but has expanded across all sectors. Lean is a practice of falling in love with challenges in order to create innovative and successful solutions. This work is done through incorporating empathy, addressing uncertainty, and establishing continuous learning practices.

Learning Objectives: 
  • Learn the history and core principles of Lean Thinking; empathy and continuous learning.
  • Demonstrate how a standard daily practice of empathy will prepare your organization for uncertainty.
  • Learn a process for combining empathy and uncertainty in order to quickly identify areas for improvement and then generate sustainable solutions.
