Description

Presented as a HYBRID EVENT-there is both an in-person and online log-in to view via Zoom. Pricing is the same for in-person or Zoom.

A light breakfast will be served for those attending in person.

Building a major gifts program requires a review of the organization’s total funds development effort.  How do you know you’re ready to begin a major gifts effort? What should you consider as you approach this new endeavor, or bring new energy while seeking to go to the next level with your donors? There’s both science and art to the relationships you will develop with your donors.  You will learn how to identify prospects as well as the art of a successful cultivation program leading to the donor visit and conversation.

Presented by: Terri Bate, Director of Philanthropy, United Way of Greater Stark County

Terri joined the resource development staff of United Way of Greater Stark County in 2017 as the director of philanthropy, which was a new position.  Before leading the major and leadership gifts effort at United Way, Terri served in many leadership positions throughout a successful 25-year career in the funds development profession.

Terri served as the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Canton for ten years with a focus on funds development. Recruited by Habitat for Humanity International, she served as Senior Director of Major gifts, and subsequently became the chief development officer and senior director of the Funds Development ministry at the Presbyterian Mission Agency of the National Presbyterian Church (USA). There she led the efforts to achieve the revenue goal of $30 million annually, including major gifts.

After eight years at the mission agency Terri wanted to “bring it home” and focus on making a difference again in Stark County. (A bit of trivia – In honor of her 10th anniversary Habitat for Humanity of Greater Canton named a street after her - Terri Bate Circle NE.)
