Description

In this presentation, we will explore what "diverse giving" means to individual organizations, and how this is a systemic, strategic conversation. Any type of fund-raising plan is based on the cultural values of the nonprofit. We will talk about how culture impacts inclusivity and diversity, as well as ways of attracting measurable diversity. Finally, we'll talk about trends to watch in developing donors and encouraging giving, particularly from diverse populations. Participants are encouraged to bring their organization's definition of diversity and success stories they've encountered.

About our presenter:

Dr. Suzanne Allen serves as the Executive Director of Barberton Community Foundation and leads a staff committed to strengthening the Barberton community for current and future generations by providing leadership, fostering collaboration, and creating a legacy of giving to do good. Prior to her appointment at Barberton Community Foundation, she was the President and CEO of Philanthropy Ohio. She also served as the Vice President for Development and Donor Services for the Akron Community Foundation. During her career, Suzanne has held teaching, senior fundraising, and leadership positions, and has served as a private consultant helping clients across the country.

Learning Objectives: Each participant will develop a working definition of diversity related to their fundraising, and understand how it is an organizational value.
