Chapter Job Board
As I wind down my second and final year as president, I wanted to remind people about the benefits of membership in our great chapter. First of all, the colleagues who will become like friends, and the relationships you will build, are probably the foremost reason I, or any of us, stay involved. I want to encourage all of you to become more active. Get on a committee, volunteer for the day at one of our signature events like the Conference on Philanthropy (COP) or the awards luncheon, or volunteer to be a mentor.
After getting some experience you may want to consider joining the AFP-NJ chapter board of directors. This will allow you to lend your expertise and leadership skills, learn from your peers, and help shape the direction of the chapter. You will also have the opportunity to become more involved with AFP Global, attend Leadership Academy, and you may even choose to really expand your world and volunteer on an AFP Global committee or board!
Speaking of AFP Global, I want to point out a few announcements you may have missed that Mike Geiger, president and CEO of AFP, made at the opening general session of the international conference (ICON) this year. Those initiatives are:
AFP 360°, powered by Korn Ferry, a complete leadership development and career training program;
Negotiation workshops offered in partnership with the American Association of University Women; and
Ethics Month in October.
Please read more about these exciting initiatives
And, please mark your calendars now so you don’t miss any upcoming AFP-NJ chapter’s networking luncheons or and our highly-praised annual conference in November. At these events you will be surrounded by innovative fundraisers doing what you are doing, but also doing things you want to know how to do. You will be learning from the best and making extraordinary connections with some truly fantastic people who are very willing to share their ideas, knowledge, and experiences.
If you have been considering getting more involved, now is a great time to reach out to me (
) to start a conversation about the ways to help. If you have any input or ideas about how to strengthen our chapter, please let me know!
I want to thank all of you and my colleagues on the board who have allowed me the opportunity and pleasure of serving as president. I will forever feel proud of this accomplishment and remember fondly my time on the board.
