Fundraisers know all about building relationships with donors. But building relationships between program and development staff is crucial for fundraising success. Deeper understanding of each other’s work can help both development and program staff achieve larger organizational goals.

Join us for a discussion with fundraising and program staff from two of our area’s most well-known organizations, the Sciencenter and the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. Our  panelists will discuss the ways their organization’s fundraising and program staff collaborate and foster stronger relationships as they work to fulfill their missions. They will provide real-life examples of methods used to coordinate across program and fundraising teams, and answer questions about how you can implement this work with your team.

After the workshop, there will be an opportunity to meet and mingle with other participants.

PANELISTS:

Mary Jane Bray, Major Giving Officer, Food Bank of the Southern Tier

Mary Jane Bray is the Major Giving Officer at the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, based in Elmira, NY, where she has worked for over three years.  Mary Jane oversees the Food Bank’s Major Gifts program and since its inception in 2019 has raised over $1Million for strategic programming. Before joining the Food Bank she worked as Director of Development for Alpine Learning Group, a center for children and adults with autism and United Hospice of Rockland a community and a residential hospice. Mary Jane has dedicated her professional career to help advancing organizations committed to improving the lives and experiences of the people in her community. She and her husband live in their empty nest in Hammondsport, NY where their three young adult sons visit often ideally without their laundry.

Randi Lynn Quackenbush, VP of Community Impact, Food Bank of the Southern Tier

Randi Lynn Quackenbush is the VP of Community Impact at the Food Bank of the Southern Tier, based in Elmira, NY, where she has worked for over nine years.  Randi oversees the Food Bank’s Programs & Partnerships, Advocacy and Education programs, Health & Nutrition initiatives, and data and evaluation.  She founded the Food Bank Speakers Bureau in 2016, which is a public speaking and leadership development program for people with first-hand experience of food insecurity to enable them to share their stories and become their own advocates. Randi is a firm believer that people most impacted by social issues are the greatest asset to solving these complex problems and that their voice should be at the center of the conversation. She holds a Master’s Degree in International Development Studies and lives with her husband and dog in Trumansburg, NY.

Lauren Garnese, Director of Development and Communications, Sciencenter

Lauren is the Director of Development and Communications at the Sciencenter. She has over a decade of experience in marketing, design, fundraising and museum administration. Prior to joining the Sciencenter team, she worked as Donor Relations Associate at the Boyce Thompson Institute in Ithaca, NY and as Deputy Director of Art-Reach in Philadelphia, PA. She is passionate about cultural accessibility and earned a Masters in Museum Administration from the University of San Francisco.

Adrienne Testa, Director of Exhibits and Facilities, Sciencenter

Adrienne is the Exhibits & Facilities Director at the Sciencenter in Ithaca, New York. Adrienne's been in the museum field for over a decade and has a background in education and museum exhibit design and planning. Adrienne also works as a consultant for museums that are creating partnerships with prisons with the end goal of helping build better parent/child relationships in families impacted by incarceration. Adrienne is passionate about collaborative work and developing learning experiences that inspire curiosity, awe, and wonder.
