Scholarships

At AFP-HM, our overall goal is to increase the accessibility of AFP membership, networking, and education opportunities and to amplify the diverse voices and ideas that contribute to our community. We recognize that cost has been a prohibitive factor for many, and we are committed to removing this barrier to ensure broader participation.

As part of a commitment to fostering inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA) and excellence in the field in fundraising, AFP-HM and AFP (global) offer initiatives to cover the cost of fees associated with:
  • One-year of AFP membership
  • Participation in AFP-HM's Emerging Professionals Cohort (EPC)
  • Attendance at AFP-HM's annual Capital Region Fundraising Day (CRFD) conference
  • Attending AFP (global) events, such as AFP ICON through Global's Chamberlain Scholarship Program and AFP-HM's Paul F. Jones Scholarship Fund

AFP-HM Scholarship Eligibility
We encourage all fundraising professionals to apply. Priority consideration may be given to individuals who self-identify as part of one or more historically ignored or underrepresented communities. This includes, but is not limited to, individuals from the following groups:
  • Racial and ethnic minorities
  • LGBTQ+ community members
  • People with disabilities
  • Veterans
  • Individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Others who have faced systemic inequities
AFP-HM's intention is to recognize and address the historical and systemic extraction of resources from these communities. By offering these scholarships, we aim to restore resources and provide equitable access to opportunities for professional growth and development.

We strive to create an inviting and supportive space for people with intersecting identities, recognizing that many individuals belong to multiple marginalized groups and that their experiences are uniquely complex.
