Overview of EDI session:  1. Comprehending EDI: Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, exploring the principles, concepts, and significance of fostering an inclusive workplace environment. The session will delve into the importance of recognizing and valuing differences among individuals, promoting fairness, and creating an atmosphere where everyone feels respected and included. 2. Understanding the Current Situation in Canada: The session will provide insights into the current state of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in Canada. It will examine systemic barriers that exist within various sectors and industries, shedding light on the challenges faced by underrepresented groups. Participants will be equipped with knowledge to recognize and address these barriers within their respective workplaces. 3. Identifying and Challenging Implicit Biases: Implicit biases and inherited assumptions can contribute to exclusionary practices. The session will empower participants to identify and challenge these biases, fostering self-awareness and promoting conscious efforts to eliminate discriminatory attitudes. By addressing implicit biases, attendees will contribute to creating a more inclusive and equitable work environment. 4. Contributing to Role-Playing Scenarios: The session will incorporate interactive elements, such as role-playing scenarios, to simulate conversations around diversity and inclusion. Participants will have the opportunity to actively engage in these scenarios, applying the knowledge gained during the session to real-life situations. This practical approach aims to enhance participants' communication skills and equip them with strategies to navigate diversity-related discussions effectively.
