Program Description
Philanthropic advising with donors can be tricky to navigate, but with the right tools, can strengthen the relationship and lead to long-term support and deeper engagement. In this discussion, presenters will invite audience members to consider how they might move a gift conversation from one that’s technical and transactional, to one that is advisory and based on the donor’s most important values. This process allows fundraisers to become trusted partners in your donor’s overall philanthropy journey and have a seat at the table when the strategy for transformational gifts is being developed. Learning objectives include how to identify which donors are best suited for these types of conversations (and which aren’t), how to utilize reflective listening to assist donors in defining what they really value, and what assets can help them achieve their vision. Our presenters will provide take-away tools, such as a donor values worksheet, that can be repurposed for your own organization.
