2020 Philanthropy Awards presented by
AFP Oregon & SW Washington’s 2020 Philanthropy Awards is going digital!
National Philanthropy Day (NPD) is a special day set aside each November 15 to celebrate philanthropy and recognize the many contributions of donors, volunteers, and professional fundraisers. Since 1986, AFP OR & SW Washington has celebrated NPD with a special event to honor local philanthropists. Since our first event, we have honored more than 100 volunteers, foundations, corporations and philanthropists. Each in their own way, these community leaders have opened doors and changed lives.

In response to the COVID-19 public health crisis, AFP Oregon & SW Washington is partnering with the Portland Business Journal to promote and produce our 2020 Philanthropy Awards virtually. Although we must forego the traditional, in-person luncheon ceremony, this year’s virtual program endeavors to capture the longstanding sentiment behind this celebration.
We’ve transformed our annual celebration into a digital event with weekly videos featuring each of the six honorees. Starting the week of October 12 and leading up to National Philanthropy Day, AFP Oregon & SW Washington and the Portland Business Journal will launch and promote a featured honoree video showcase. We look forward to sharing these stories of impact and resilience. Together we’ll honor and celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of these philanthropists and community changemakers.
In addition to honoring these amazing philanthropic individuals and organizations, AFP Oregon & SW Washington will be sharing Stories of Resilience featuring nonprofit and community-based-organizations that have stepped up this year to meet the challenges of COVID-19 and systemic racism with innovative and grassroots solutions. These highlights will be shared throughout our virtual event.
