Founded in the spirit of supporting teachers and families, OnPoint Community Credit Union has grown as a champion of education, financial literacy and service over its eight-five-year history. OnPoint’s community partnerships are fueled not only by financial support, but by how their employees show their care for our community, which includes dedicating their time and expertise to supporting financial wellness in the region.
As a champion of financial literacy education, OnPoint provides annual support to Junior Achievement of Oregon and Southwest Washington’s classroom curriculum and JA Finance Park, an economic simulation for middle school and high school students that guides participants through the basics of personal finance, money management, careers and life choices.
Some of the most impactful work OnPoint does is in creating opportunities for others to lead. For example, OnPoint was the first major donor to the Babies With Books program at Randall Children's Hospital. The program, developed and led by high school volunteers, provides parents with free children’s books and materials on the benefits in brain development and family bonding when reading to their babies. And 2019 marked the 12th year OnPoint supported the KGW School Supply Drive. For many families, purchasing new school supplies can be a financial strain, with one out of two children beginning the school year without the school supplies they need.
In addition, OnPoint Community Credit Union has been a supporter of: Oregon Humane Society, Brown Girl Rise!, Rahab’s Sisters, Family Access Network, Share, Kinship House, Northwest Housing Alternatives, SMART, De La Salle North Catholic High School, Schoolhouse Supplies, Neighborhood House, Financial Beginnings, Sisters Kiwanis Food Bank, Oregon Food Bank and Meals on Wheels, among others.
“For more than a decade, OnPoint’s commitment to the educators and children in our community has helped Schoolhouse Supplies fulfill its mission and positively impact the classrooms of hundreds of thousands of local students and teachers,” commented Alice Forbes, Executive Director of Schoolhouse Supplies.
