The program includes a panel discussion via zoom to explore the following themes:
- Unique issues that affect Black lives and the needs of their families
- Challenges that organizations predominately serving BIPOC communities face
- Obstacles faced by organizations led by BIPOC individuals
- The current relationship between philanthropy, Black philanthropy, and what change is needed going forward
- Celebrating/highlighting Black philanthropic accomplishments in RI
The program will be moderated by Angela Ankoma, Vice President and Executive Director of the Equity Leadership Initiative at the Rhode Island Foundation. Panelists include:
- Beverly Ledbetter, Retired General Counsel, Brown University
- Linda Newton, 2020 AFP National Philanthropy Day Philanthropic Citizen of the Year and Consultant, Newton & Newton
- Anthony Rust, Impact Fund Manager, The Business Equity Fund
- Juan Wilson, Founder, The MUSE Foundation,Inc and CoFounder, Youth Empowerment Society
The program will be held on Wednesday, March 3, from 4-5:30pm via zoom. There is no cost to participate, but you must register ahead of time.
