The Art of Discovery: How to engage your board with its community by asking questions and deep liste

When:  Nov 9, 2021 from 08:30 AM to 10:00 AM (ET)
Associated with  AFP RI, Rhode Island Chapter

Presenter: Gayle Gifford

The late Yoga Berra once said ‘You can see a lot just by looking.” True that. And guess what, you can hear a lot just by listening. Listening is a critical skill for fundraisers. It is an important component for development or strategic planning, for engaging in partnerships and for strengthening your relations with donors. And a great way for board members to practice becoming ambassadors for your organization. Let’s learn together who, what and how to ask and what to do with the information you collect. You’ll also practice some deep listening yourself.

Gayle Gifford, ACFRE brings over 30 years of experience to her work with nonprofits - from her personal activism for peace, disarmament, environmental, human and civil rights, to her professional work as a consultant and former director of development and senior nonprofit manager.

She is one of fewer than 100 individuals in the U.S. with the advanced fundraising credential, ACFRE, issued by the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Gifford learned her craft as Director of Development and Communications at PLAN USA, as Deputy Director/Director of Development and Marketing at Save The Bay, and as Director of Development at CityYear RI. She is an in-demand trainer and provocative writer on nonprofit management and fundraising and teaches graduate-level courses as an adjunct at Brown University and Simmons College.
