East Cooper Meals on Wheels - Development and Events Manager


Organizational Role

We’re looking for a fundraising professional to focus on events, grants, and donor relations.  You’ll be serving a great cause while working in a casual, fun work environment, with a small super friendly staff, 450+ of the best volunteers in the world, and a community that has been so very supportive throughout our 35+ years of service. The Development and Events Manager will manage and support a wide range of development activities throughout the year including our Gala, two additional smaller events, mid-year and annual appeals, some grant writing, and donor relations including gift processing and acknowledgment processes.


  • BS (required), MA (a plus)
  • Three-plus years experience in development
  • Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills

Proficiency in the use of computers for: Fundraising software (Bloomerang), MS Office, and Internet/Grant Submissions

Purpose and Responsibilities

Develop and execute East Cooper Meals on Wheels’ annual fundraising plan to meet and exceed fundraising goals.

  • Plan and manage the execution of fundraising events (Oyster Roast/Gala & Auction/Dining For A Difference)
    • Establishing and maintaining relationships with vendors and venues
    • Securing sponsors and maintaining those relationships
    • Coordinating with Volunteer Manager for volunteers to staff events
    • Planning event details and aspects, including seating, dining and guests
    • Remaining on budget with revenues and expenses
    • Provide input for the design and content of marketing and communication materials for events.
    • For the Gala, manage the auction process using our AuctionMaestro system along with overseeing the volunteer auction committee who solicits in-kind donations for the auction.
  • Prepare, submit, and track grant applications as outlined in the fund development plan to generate funds for the organization and expand applications in the area of healthcare focused foundations. (specific periods of the year)
    • Prepare regular reports on progress of grants and sponsorship solicitations
  • Oversee gift input and acknowledgement processes utilizing our Bloomerang donor management system
    • Assist with mid-year and annual direct mail appeals
    • Help to develop and maintain ongoing relationships with donors and sponsors.
  • Collaborate with marketing/communications on messaging
  • Where appropriate, cross-train on other roles to cover when needed.

Salary Range

$22.50 - $28.00 per hour with benefits
