Learn the basics of incorporating gift planning into your fundraising and professional practice. From identifying prospective planned giving donors, to having the conversation, to working with a donor’s advisory circle, this program will help support you in your efforts to develop and grow planned gifts to your organization and better serve your donors.

MEET THE SPEAKERS:

Sam Head, CEP, Co-Founder Carolinas Wealth Management
President, SC Planned Giving Council
Sam Head co-founded Carolinas Wealth Management in 1999 with his college roommate and best friend, David Monckton. He concentrates on investment management, financial planning, and tax reduction strategies. He has been providing tax reduction strategies and financial planning services to individuals and businesses for 20 years.
Sam graduated from Clemson University in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. An informative and highly regarded speaker, he has addressed numerous organizations, corporate employee groups, and executives on topics including investment strategies, insurance, retirement planning, and estate planning.
Sam's passion is making a positive difference in people's lives. He has devoted his time to working with colleges, seminaries and other nonprofits to help raise funds for operations and endowments. He is active in his church and charitable giving, striving to honor God in every aspect of his professional and personal life.


Beth Wingard, Senior Major Gifts Officer, Lexington Medical Center Foundation
Immediate Past-President, SC Planned Giving Council
Beth Wingard is a Senior Major Gifts Officer for the Lexington Medical Center Foundation. Her focus is development of corporate, foundation, and individual relationships for investment of major and planned gifts, grants, and sponsorships. She manages the Foundation’s planned giving program, annual scholarship program, and Employee Emergency Crisis fund.
Beth received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Presbyterian College and then served as a Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholar to the University of Stirling in Scotland. Before entering the nonprofit arena, she was a Vice President for BB&T where she served business, owners, and executives as a Business Services Officer. Through this experience, she gained valuable insight to the complex priorities and concerns of owners and their families, including risk management, wealth transfer, and business succession. She is on the board of the SC Planned Giving Council where she previously served as president and past chair of the Annual Carolinas Planned Giving Conference at Kanuga, and also serves on the board of the Palmetto Center for Women. She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Central South Carolina Chapter and completed the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy’s Madison Institute Planned Giving certificate program.


Gina De La Cruz Turcotte, MHA, CFRE holds more than 16 years of experience in advancement and major gift fundraising. In 2018, Gina joined the Spartanburg Regional Foundation Team as Director of Philanthropy. Ginas responsibilities include serving as the liaison for the Hospice Division, Planned Giving and special events. Prior to joining Regional Foundation, she served as a Director in the Office of Philanthropy and Partnership at Greenville Health System, the Director of Advancement for St. Josephs Catholic School, and the Director of Major and Planned Gifts for Presbyterian College. Currently, Gina holds leadership positions on the Association for Fundraising Professionals South Carolina, Piedmont Chapter Board and on the South Carolina Planned Giving Council. Gina holds a BS in Health Science from Clemson University and a Master of Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina and Clemson University. She received her CFRE in 2009.
