Position Summary

Are you a proactive, results-driven professional with a passion for building strategic partnerships and driving impactful sponsorship programs? Join us as our new Sponsorship and Partnership Officer!

The Sponsorship and Partnership Officer is an exciting, high-impact role where independence
and initiative are key! Reporting to the Director of Engagement, you’ll work closely with the
Advancement team and other University departments to identify new opportunities, maximize
sponsorship value, and build lasting relationships.


This dynamic position is at the heart of planning, executing, and expanding the University’s
sponsorship programs, both inbound and outbound. As a self-motivated trailblazer, you’ll have
the power to shape strategic partnerships, ensuring sponsorship assets are expertly valued,
coordinated, and fully aligned with the University’s policies and revenue targets.
In this influential role, you’ll represent the University to a wide range of stakeholders— from
potential sponsors and community leaders to donors, alumni, and event attendees. Whether
you’re delivering compelling presentations or engaging in key community events, your efforts will
directly contribute to the University’s outreach and growth.


What You’ll Do:

  •   Proactively build and manage a diverse prospect pipeline to support faculty and unit programs, driving sponsor solicitation, agreement, and retention strategies to maximize ROI.
  • Coordinate sponsor communications, including activations with University Communications and Marketing, and manage the execution of all sponsorship and partnership agreements.
  • Provide independent event planning and support for sponsorship-related events, while tracking budgets, sponsor invoicing, and expenditures
  • Handle sponsorship needs for special projects and emerging priorities, including national/international competitions and high-profile events.

 

Sponsorship Strategy and Execution

  • Independently create and manage the University’s sponsorship asset inventory, collaborating with faculty, units, and programs to identify emerging opportunities for new programs, spaces, and events
  • Design and execute the annual sponsorship program in consultation with Directors of Engagement and Philanthropy, using data to develop strategic plans and set financial an engagement objectives.
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to develop sponsorship opportunities for University programs, events, and major hosted initiatives.

 

Stakeholder Engagement and Communications

  •   Develop and maintain strong relationships with community and business partners to secure long-term and event-based sponsorships, while ensuring effective communication of strategies to stakeholders.
  •  Collaborate with internal teams (community engagement, alumni, communications) and faculty/staff to identify sponsorship opportunities, create compelling proposals, and maximize brand exposure.
  •   Attend University, faculty, and community events to build and strengthen relationships with potential and existing sponsors, and assess ROI of sponsorship activations.

 

Strategic Coordination and Data Managment

  • Maintain up-to-date records on current and prospective partners in Raiser’s Edge NXT conducting proactive research and analysis of sponsorship opportunities.
  •         Develop and implement a communication strategy to enhance stakeholder relationships and ensure effective relationship management and data tracking in line with University Advancement practices.
  •          Utilize CRM tools like Raiser’s Edge NXT to track and manage sponsor information, staying current on platform updates to support fundraising efforts, and share relevant information during Engagement and Advancement team meetings.

Position Requirements       What You’ll Bring to this Position:

  • Degree in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of direct fundraising experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role:

  • Deep understanding of fundraising industry best practices for leveraging sponsorships to maximize opportunities (ideally focused on philanthropy and sponsorship revenue generation).
  • Proven experience in a multi-level stakeholder environment, with a track record of establishing and maintaining effective partnerships. 
  • Established network within the Canadian corporate and non-profit sectors, facilitating connections and fostering relationships with potential sponsors and partners.
  • Familiarity with the higher education sector in Canada, including trends, challenges, and opportunities related to university partnerships and sponsorships.
  • Understanding of Canadian laws and regulations related to sponsorships, fundraising, and charitable activities, ensuring compliance with all legal and ethical standards.
  • Superior communication skills, including the development of sponsorship packages, delivering compelling pitch presentations, and conducting thorough post-event analysis.
  • Strong command of both English and French is highly desirable, given the bilingual nature of many Canadian institutions and the potential for broader engagement across the country.
  • Excellent public speaking abilities to effectively represent the university at events, conferences, and meetings with potential sponsors and partners. 
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, reflecting the multicultural environment of Canadian universities. 
  • Proven track record in planning, organizing, and executing high-profile events that attract sponsorship and enhance the university’s brand.
  • Experience with digital marketing tools and strategies to promote sponsorship opportunities and engage with potential partners through online platforms.
  • Capability to develop and implement long-term strategic plans for sponsorship and partnership growth, aligning with the university’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, financial planning, and ROI analysis to ensure sponsorship activities are financially viable and beneficial for the university.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft 365 programs and complex databases such as Raiser’s Edge.
  • Demonstrated creativity, innovation, and flexibility, paired with exceptional organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, effectively manage multiple projects, and uphold a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset, with strong customer service and sales skills.

Salary Range $74,881 - $101,033 Annually
Status Permanent
Work Hours Monday-Friday 8:15 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with some evenings and weekends required.
