AFP-HR Member, Patrick Belcher, interviews Jaison Morgan, founder and CEO of Carrot. Jaison and Patrick discuss the reason more non-profits should be build coalitions and collaboration to to generate more revenue than they could earn on their own.

Speaker Biography:



Jaison Morgan is the CEO of Carrot. He has been recognized by the BBC as “the world’s expert” in designing prizes to drive innovative breakthroughs. He helped establish a lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to study how targeted rewards can be used to induce new solutions to engineering challenges. As the former head of prize development for the X PRIZE Foundation, he led teams to deliver multiple cash bounties of $10 million or more for solutions to common causes. He has served as an Advisor to the Office of the First Minister of Scotland, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, and the government of the United Arab Emirates, to counsel their use of challenge competitions for solving large-scale public problems. Today, he leads the Carrot team, an agency that focuses exclusively on the use of prizes and other forms of incentive-based programs. Most recently, Carrot has been responsible for the MacArthur Foundation's 100&Change, a $100 million competition that is attracting widespread attention. Jaison completed graduate studies at the University of Chicago and is a frequent lecturer on the subject of philanthropic prizes and challenge competitions.
