Welcome to Our New Board President - Al Hove

Help us welcome our new AFPSS Board President - Al Hove!

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF

As a servant leader, with more than 35 years in the fundraising profession, I bring to my new role as AFPSS President a mix of experiences, gratitude, humility and hope.

  • I’m grateful to serve with an amazing board of directors and outstanding committee chairs, dedicated to providing our great community with high-quality, professional development programs, that include mentorship and networking opportunities.
  • I’m humbled by the challenges and opportunities facing our board and membership, given the impact this Pandemic has had on mission funding for many area nonprofits.
  • I’m hopeful ‘our work’ will foster greater awareness, creativity, inclusivity and beneficial fundraising tools that can help us all learn and grow professionally, and personally.

WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU BRING TO YOUR NEW ROLE?

  • I will draw upon my ongoing experience as a SUMMIT and IDEA committee member.
  • My work experiences include capital campaign and major gifts fundraising for P.L.U., T.C.C. and numerous community colleges, Bellarmine Prep, FISH food banks, Lakewold Gardens and a Seattle immigration law & justice project.
  • Those experiences allowed me to see nonprofit work from all sides; with a front row seat; whether my role be as STAFF, BOARD, CONSULTANT, VOLUNTEER, or DONOR.

WHAT’S YOUR VISION for 2021?

  • To work closely with the Board of Directors, our committee chairs and executive committee in carrying out the strategic planning goals and activities for our Chapter.
  • To promote IDEA (inclusion, diversity, equity, access) in all that we do as a Chapter.
  • To offer diversity training for our Board and IDEA focused programming for the Chapter.
  • To identify new funding sources to strengthen organizational capacity for the Chapter.
  • To be more creative and collaborative in our community outreach and programming.
  • To support mental health awareness and efforts to bring back the FUN to fundraising!
