Meet the Funders Panel: Making Philanthropic Funding Decisions in a Changing Landscape

Back by popular demand! The 2022 Meet the Funders panel will bring three local funders together in conversation after two turbulent years for our community. The chapter’s VP of Education, Sarah Cortell Vandersypen, CFRE, will facilitate the funder panel discussion on how funding priorities have evolved, and funders will answer questions from the audience.
 
 
 
 
Edy Addison
Senior Director of Community Impact, Capital Area United Way
 
Edy Addison is the Senior Director of Community Impact at Capital Area United Way (CAUW), where she oversees grant making and direct service initiatives, including 211, SingleCare, and Character Playbook. With over a decade of experience in the nonprofit industry, Edy began her career as a Special Education Teacher in Texas prior to moving to Louisiana. Once in Baton Rouge, Edy worked with the State of Louisiana’s Quality Start program assessing early care and education facilities for their Quality Ratings. Since 2014, Edy has worked for CAUW first as an Education Manager and now in a broader capacity. She also sits on various community boards and committees in both professional and personal capacities, including: East Baton Rouge Parish Early Childhood Community Network Governing Board, First United Methodist Church’s Missions and Outreach Council, Louisiana 211 Coordinating Council, and Mayor Broome’s Behavioral Health Task Force. Edy holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s of Science Degree in Family and Child Studies/Non-Profit Management from Texas State University. When not working, Edy enjoys spending time with her husband, two children (ages 2 and 5), and three pets.
 
 
 
Rachel Ayn Konick
Lead Program Officer and Grants Manager for the Irene W. and C.B. Pennington Foundation
 
Rachel Ayn Konick is the Lead Program Officer and Grants Manager for the Irene W. and C.B. Pennington Foundation. She has been with the Foundation since 2013. Prior to working for the Pennington Family Foundation, she worked as Head Sales Manager and Showroom Manager for Amrita Singh Jewelry & Accessories, a popular designer brand in New York City. She also briefly served in External Relations at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), a bipartisan foreign policy think tank in Washington, DC. Ms. Konick graduated from Wellesley College in 2009 with a B.A. in East Asian Studies and a minor in Psychology.
 
 
 
Jan Ross
Executive Vice President of Philanthropy, Huey and Angelina Wilson Foundation
 
Jan Ross is Executive Vice President of Philanthropy at the Huey and Angelina Wilson Foundation, a private family foundation supporting the greater Baton Rouge community focusing on human services, education, health care and prison reentry. In this capacity, she leads the implementation of the strategic direction, guides her team through grantmaking due diligence, and serves as the community liaison for the Foundation. In previous capacities, Jan aided in the development of the grantmaking framework and implemented its online application and reporting systems. She created the first strategic initiative focused on prison reentry. Jan serves on the boards of Capital Area Alliance for the Homeless and St. Vincent de Paul Foundation and serves as its investment committee chair. Jan served as a board member and executive committee member of Maison des Ami, Family Road of Greater Baton Rouge, Greater Baton Rouge Hope Academy and Capital Area Reentry Coalition. Jan holds a bachelor’s degree in personnel management from University of Louisiana Lafayette and is a commissioned Civil Law Notary Public. She is a graduate of Baton Rouge Business Report Executive Leadership Academy, Leadership Baton Rouge of the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, and Robert Hull Fellowship for Emerging Leaders in Southern Philanthropy.
