2018 Best Day Ever 2.0

The Allegheny Mountains Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals celebrated National Philanthropy Day by recognizing two youth organizations during the “Best Day 2.0” workshop for nonprofit organizations on Friday, November 9, 2018, at The Casino at Lakemont Park. The event was co-sponsored by the local AFP chapter and the Blair County Chamber of Commerce Committee of Non-Profit Businesses.

Michael Kumer, Principal of BoardsMTO, returned in his role as keynote presenter after his 2017 “Best Day Ever” presentation was well received. In his encore, Kumer conducted an engaging, interactive conversation about emerging trends found among peak-performing nonprofit boards. These trends include board member recruitment, orientation, service agreements and expectations, plus board chair and CEO relationships, and much more.

The AFP Allegheny Mountains Chapter presented Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Awards to Penn-Mont Academy’s Upper Elementary Youth and the Blair Chamber’s Leadership Blair County Youth initiative.

“We have plenty to celebrate when it comes to youth in our region who are making an impact to service organizations and people in need,” according to Patricia Savage, AFP Chapter President. “We are pleased to publicly recognize their efforts and appreciate them.

The National Philanthropy Day Workshop & Luncheon was also sponsored by UPMC Altoona, Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries, Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation, and the Independent Catholic Foundation.
