Topic: Advancing Yourself and Your Career Through Continuing Education: CFRE, CAP and GPC

About the program:
Learn more about improving your skills and knowledge through certification programs. This workshop will provide an overview of educational opportunities available to professional fundraising staff to better their skills in fundraising with the help of Eric Heininger (discussing CFRE), Dr. Jennifer Lehman (discussing CAP), and Lisa Pagel (discussing GPC).  Following presentations by each of our guests, ask your questions of a panel comprised of members of our AFP of Central Iowa community who have been certified with each of these credentials.

Presenters:

Eric Heininger (President and Managing Director, EDEN+ Fundraising Consulting)

Eric brings more than a decade of fundraising experience to Des Moines. He has worked in multiple sectors of the nonprofit community including religious, national and international social service, human rights, cultural, education, and health agencies. Eric has successfully conducted capital campaigns and feasibility studies across the country, managed large portfolios of grants at every level, created corporate sponsorship plans, implemented volunteer recruitment strategies, and coordinated individual major gift fundraising efforts. EDEN+ founded and underwrites the Des Moines Fundraising Institute, a 24-class curriculum designed to educate and expand the expertise of fundraising professionals.

Dr. Jennifer Lehman (CAP® Program Director and Assistant Professor of Philanthropy, The American College of Financial Services)

Dr. Lehman earned her PhD in personal financial planning from Texas Tech University. She also earned law and MPA degrees from UNC-Chapel Hill, a Bachelor of Science from TCU, and CFP(r) credentials. Prior experience includes university teaching in various formats (online, hybrid, and face to face), research, financial planning, planned giving for a university, career services for a law school, and appellate prosecution. Hobbies include hiking, yoga, and road trips, and she has traveled to all 50 U.S. states. Jennifer Lehman, Ph.D., Esq., CFP® is the new CAP® Program Director and Assistant Professor of Philanthropy at The American College of Financial Services, which has helped financial services professionals realize their career goals through rigorous and practical education.

Lisa Pagel (Director of Grants, ChildServe)

Lisa oversees the entire grant process for ChildServe, as well as collaborates with foundations, organizations and governmental agencies to advance ChildServe’s mission. Pagel hails from West Point, Iowa, and has more than 17 years of grant writing experience, securing nearly $50 million in funding throughout the course of her career.
