In January 2017, chapter founder, Linda Gatten Butler, MSW, ACSW, LISW-S, was a Greater Dayton AFP Board member and encouraged to start a Springfield chapter. A survey of nonprofit leaders was sent to Clark, Champaign and Greene nonprofits to determine the need with an informational session in February 2017 supporting the need.
2017 meetings started in May at Wittenberg University resulting in 25 potential members and paperwork submission in September. Fundraisers were engaged in ethical support, education and networking benefiting nonprofits and our communities. In November 2017, AFP International approved the Greater Springfield Chapter of AFP as the ninth chapter in Ohio!
In 2018 to the present, GSAFP has successfully recruited up to 30 members from over 25 organizations who have raised the bar, built capacity and increased fundraising skills and results for our communities.
