Successful, donor-centered development programs depend on many factors. One of the most valuable is a focused and well-coordinated Leadership Team that understands the values of your donors and prospects and the strategic needs of the school, university or organization.
The Development Quartet (consisting of the Board Chair, the Development Committee Chair, the School Head/President or Executive Director, and the Development Director) creates a climate within that focuses on matching a donor’s interests with institutional values and needs. This team is the backbone of your school, university and non-profit organization’s development and fundraising efforts, providing direction, accountability, authority, and the technical know-how to successfully execute your donor-centered programs.
This session will explore how a Development Quartet functions, how some organizations and schools used the power of the Quartet to navigate change during the pandemic and set up their organization for success going forward, and provide Case Studies for participants to model effective use of the Quartet.
About Charlotte
Charlotte Albertson is Director of Development and Community Engagement at Lausanne Collegiate School, an independent PK2-12th International Baccalaureate School. She has over 12 years of independent and higher education fundraising experience, including fundraising, strategic boards, strategic planning, alumni engagement, parent engagement, and special events. Charlotte attended her first AFP meeting in 2010 when she was living and working in Baltimore, Maryland and she currently serves on the CASE District III Cabinet and the CASE District III Conference Board.
About Michael
Michael Christopher, a consultant with Independent School Management (ISM), spent 45 years in college and independent school development, having attended his first CASE-NAIS conference in 1991. His leadership of development programs in three independent schools has given him the experience and tools to serve in his current role of advising boards on their development role, evaluating and helping schools build development offices, implement effective annual and capital giving programs, and maintain strong major gifts efforts. Michael also gives workshops and works with schools on Marketing and Enrollment Management.
