Dr. Rychetta Watkins is former fundraiser turned funder and has had the unique opportunity to view the world of philanthropy from two distinct perspectives. In this presentation, she will explore the ethical considerations that arise when fundraising for a cause, and how these considerations differ when one becomes a funder.

For this Learn Over Lunch she will examine the role of trust in fundraising, and how fundraisers can cultivate and maintain trust with donors. She will explore the importance of transparency and accountability in fundraising, and how these principles can be upheld throughout the fundraising process.

Next, she will delve into the ethical implications of being a funder, discuss the importance of being clear and transparent about funding priorities, and how funders can ensure that their investments align with their values. She’ll also explore the issue of power dynamics in philanthropy, and how funders can work to mitigate the inherent imbalances that exist in the funder-grantee relationship.

By the end of the session, attendees will have a deeper understanding of the ethical considerations that are essential to successful fundraising and responsible philanthropy.

Rychetta is the Director of Grant Making and Partnerships for the Memphis Music Initiative.

Networking begins and lunch is served starting at 11:30 a.m. The program is from Noon to 1 p.m. Lunch will be catered by Big Momma's & Granny's Catering.
