AFP VA, Virginia’s Blue Ridge Chapter is based in the Greater Roanoke Valley and Southwest Virginia, which includes the counties of Alleghany, Botetourt, Roanoke, Franklin, and Henry and all Virginia points westward. The Chapter covers a 24-county area that is home to nearly one million people.
Our chapter meets for breakfast on the second Tuesday of each month (excluding July and December) at Club Friendship in Roanoke, VA. We offer a variety of programs to enhance your fundraising skills.

Chapter History. The “Association of Fundraising Professionals, Virginia’s Blue Ridge Chapter” was organized in 1982. In August 1994, the organization was incorporated as the “National Society of Fund Raising Executives, First Virginia Chapter, Inc.” and was later renamed the “Association of Fundraising Professionals, First Virginia Chapter, Inc.” In June 2023, the corporation was renamed the “Association of Fundraising Professionals, Virginia’s Blue Ridge Chapter” to better describe the geographic reach. The corporate name is often shortened to “AFP VA, Virginia’s Blue Ridge Chapter.” The Chapter is nonstock Virginia corporation (SCC ID number 0432719-3) and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 54-1278249).
Area served by the Chapter. AFP VA, Virginia’s Blue Ridge Chapter, serves the cities of Roanoke, Salem, Radford, Bristol, Martinsville, Galax, Covington, and Norton; the counties of Alleghany, Bland, Botetourt, Buchanan, Carroll, Craig, Dickenson, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Henry, Lee, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski, Roanoke, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, Wise, and Wythe; and the towns of Abingdon, Appalachia, Big Stone Gap, Blacksburg, Boones Mill, Buchanan, Bluefield, Cedar Bluff, Chilhowie, Christiansburg, Claypool Hill, Clifton Forge, Clintwood, Coeburn, Damascus, Dublin, Dunagannon, Fincastle, Floyd, Glade Spring, Grundy, Haysi, Hillsville, Honaker, Independence, Iron Gate, Jonesville, Lebanon, Marion, Narrows, New Castle, Nickelsville, Pearisburg, Pembroke, Pennington Gap, Pound, Pulaski, Richlands, Rocky Mount, Rural Retreat, Saltsville, St. Paul, Stuart, Tazewell, Troutville, Vinton, Wise and Wytheville.
